Berea Children’s Home and Family Services Granted Status To Become The Family Nurturing Center of OhioTM

Berea Children’s Home and Family Services is pleased to announce that we have been granted status as The Family Nurturing Center of OhioTM.

Becoming the Family Nurturing Center for the entire State of Ohio is a significant honor. Studies continue to confirm the effectiveness of the Nurturing Parenting programs, and our agency will have the privilege of sharing the program state-wide. Individuals from across the state will come to Berea Children’s Home and Family Services for training on Nurturing Parenting program implementation.

“We are thrilled to be a support to the providers of Nurturing Parenting programs throughout Ohio,” says Dr. Ben Kearney, Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer. “We are committed to providing the highest quality of care to the individuals we serve and have confidence that this program will help children and their families throughout Ohio to become contributing members of a strong community.

As The Family Nurturing Center of OhioTM, we are joining the network of Family Nurturing Centers operated throughout the United States and Mexico. The program teaches nurturing parenting skills to families and parent educators. Designed to replace abusive and neglecting parenting methods with nurturing parenting methods, the program has been proven to treat and prevent the recurrence of child abuse and neglect. Nurturing Parenting can be taught in a group setting or within the family home and can be adapted for different family dynamics and demographics including, teen parents, foster and adoptive families, military families, Hispanic families and African American families.

“Berea Children’s Home and Family Services has been granted status as The Family Nurturing Center of OhioTM because the agency is dedicated to our goal of making the world a better place through nurturing,” says Stephen J. Bavolek, Ph.D, Author, Nurturing Parenting Programs. “I believe the agency will make a huge impact in Ohio and help us to achieve our long term goals which include lowering the rate of teenage pregnancies, reducing the rate of juvenile delinquency and alcohol abuse, and stopping the intergenerational cycle of child abuse.
